About The Oldish Traveler

Get ready to hit the road, fly to new lands or sail to another shore. I'm here to help.

I’m Clay. Travel, writing and photography are my passions. And I want to share them all with you.

While this blog is aimed at older travelers, I think you’ll find it a great resource for anyone who likes to get out and see the world. Here, you can find great sites to visit, places to stay and eat.

You can also find articles on the best travel gear to pack on your adventures. Cameras, phones, gadgets, bags - whatever I can find that will make your life on the road just a little easier.

Make sure you keep an eye out for TOT (The Oldish Traveler) TIPS - Money saving ideas and travel hacks to keep costs down and enjoyment up.

A little about me. I got the travel bug when I was 13 years old, attending the National Scout Jamboree in Pennsylvania. Along the way, I walked through the Capitol Building and the majestic monuments of Washington, D.C., saw the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and caught my first Major League Baseball game at old Veteran’s Stadium. I was hooked.

Travel became a cornerstone of my life. Having an Anglo-Irish wife with family scattered throughout Ireland and England has added richly to our experiences. As a result, I lived in England for a decade and traveled extensively through Europe for both business and pleasure. My family has been by my side throughout these adventures with the wife and kids going coast-to-coast and across the Atlantic numerous times.

I’m based in Dallas, Texas but South Carolina will always be home. Don’t be surprised to see a disproportionate amount of content coming from the Lone Star and Palmetto states.

Finally - I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a line through the comments section below.

Cheers to our next adventure
